Privacy Policy

WizardCut is a free Premiere Pro plugin made by Matt Ashbee, trading as UploadFX. This policy explains what information we collect when you use WizardCut, how we use it, and your rights under UK and EU data protection law (UK GDPR / GDPR) and similar laws such as the CCPA.

1. Who we are

The data controller for WizardCut is Matt Ashbee, trading as UploadFX. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at: uploadfxshop@gmail.com

2. Signing in means joining our email list

WizardCut's free tools are unlocked by signing in with your email address and a one-time code (there are no passwords). By signing in and using WizardCut, you are joining our email list and agreeing to receive emails from us. Those emails fall into two kinds:

• Service emails — your one-time sign-in codes and important notices about the product. These are necessary for the plugin to work.
• Marketing emails — video-editing tips, tutorials, new features and occasional promotions from WizardCut / UploadFX.

We will never sell your email address or share it with third parties for their own marketing.

3. What information we collect

• Your email address.
• A randomly generated machine identifier (not linked to your name or device serial), the plugin version you run, and your country (derived from your IP at the time of a request — we do not store your IP address).
• Basic usage timestamps, such as when you last opened the plugin, so we can understand activity and support you.
• If you use Report an issue inside the plugin, the message you send (and your email, so we can reply).

We do not collect, upload, or have any access to your video, audio, transcripts, filenames, or project files. All editing and transcription happens locally on your computer.

4. Where your data is stored

Your account data is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure (Workers & KV). Sign-in codes and marketing emails are delivered through Resend, our email provider. If you ever buy a paid upgrade, that checkout is handled by Shopify. These providers act as data processors on our behalf; they do not get your data for their own marketing.

5. Your choices & how to opt out

• Pro members can opt out of marketing emails at any time in Settings → License → "Opt out of marketing emails", and keep full use of the product. You'll still receive essential service emails.
• Free users use tools that require an active email sign-in, so the simplest way to opt out of marketing is to stop using the product. You can also remove yourself entirely at any time (see section 6).
• Anyone can unsubscribe via the link in any marketing email.

6. Deleting your account

Open Settings → Account → Delete account inside the plugin. This permanently deletes your WizardCut account record and removes you from the mailing list. You can sign up again later with the same email if you change your mind. You can also request deletion by emailing uploadfxshop@gmail.com.

7. Legal basis & your rights

We rely on your consent (given by signing in and using WizardCut) for marketing emails, on contract performance for the service emails needed to run the product, and on our legitimate interests for basic, non-identifying usage signals that keep the plugin working. Under UK/EU data protection law and similar laws you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Ask us to delete your data (or do it yourself with Delete account)
• Object to or restrict how we process your data, including marketing
• Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these, use the in-app controls above or email uploadfxshop@gmail.com and we'll respond promptly, for free.

8. Cookies

This website (wizardcut.ai) does not use cookies or tracking technologies. Any Shopify checkout page may use cookies as part of its standard checkout process — these are governed by Shopify's own policy.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the plugin or by email. Continued use of WizardCut after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
